The Filmmakers

Craig Leon directed, produced and filmed Modern Nature. He's a graduate of Princeton University (summa cum laude) where he won the Pyne Prize. He has an MBA from Harvard, where he was a World Bank scholar and an agribusiness case writer. Over the last 25 years, he has worked on agricultural ventures and serves as a director of Institutional Investor magazine. Craig studied documentary filmmaking at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito and founded Future History Films. His previous documentaries have focused on social, economic and environmental challenges in the Caribbean, including The Rebirth of Montserrat with George Martin and The St. Kitts Debt Cliff with Danny Glover.

Micael Mendes Guimarães is Modern Nature's editor. In addition to film editing, Micael works on production, sound editing and mixing, and advertising direction. He recently served as the executive producer of Entorno da Beleza, directed by Dácia Ibapina, and Minha Vida, Nossa História, directed by Marcos Mendes and Waldir de Pina. He's worked on over 25 documentary shorts and features in Brasil.

Alexander Leon composed and performs the original score in Modern Nature. He is a film score composer, winner of the YoungArts 2013 competition, and his most recent orchestral pieces will be performed by the Sydney Contemporary Orchestra in September 2014. He worked last summer with Hollywood composer Mateo Messina and will be studying under legendary composer and Juilliard director Samuel Adler this summer. Visit www.alexjleon.com.
